Chris is a native of New England and relocated to Southern California after completion of his Masters Degree in Plastics Engineering from the University of Massachusetts in 1999. Chris was first introduced to day spas in 1997, where he experienced the transformational powers of massage. That powerful experience became a lifelong passion and Chris continues to frequent spas worldwide. In 2004, Chris was fortunate to find two dedicated partners Dana and Jody that shared his dream, and Spa Velia was born. Located in downtown San Diego, Spa Velia incorporates Chris' research and experience, and fulfills his desire to share this transformational experience. Chris brings an important "male perspective" to Spa Velia, ensuring that it is balanced and gender friendly.
Today, Chris is responsible for the overall business development of Spa Velia. He is the active CFO overseeing strategic development, business growth, regional business relations and the expansion of the Spa Velia. Additionally, Chris is an entrepreneur engaged in various other business endeavors including serving as an active partner in Marco Polo International, a multi-million dollar corporation specializing in high-volume plastic resin distribution.
Chris enjoys playing guitar, traveling, and spending time outdoors in nature. An avid yogi, Chris believes in being present moment centered and experiencing life to the fullest. The authors he finds most inspiring are Eckhart Tolle and Albert Einstein.

Jody, originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, relocated to San Diego in 1989, shortly after she found herself wanting to pursue her new love; the Spa Industry.
Jody has been active in the Spa industry for over 16 years. Her extensive and successful experience includes, management, massage therapy and customer service. She has successfully worked with and managed top Resort, Day and Club Spas in San Diego, California. Additionally, Jody completed her Massage Therapist Certification in 1997 at The School of Healing Arts.
Jody enjoys being in this exciting industry as a spa professional and as an active spa go-er. Jody is well known for being incredibly well-versed in exceptional customer service, staff development and training, ongoing education and creating an environment where employee and guest retention are well above industry standards.
In addition to her work at the spa Jody enjoys giving back to the community and spends countless hours volunteering with her animals through Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe, California.

An experienced veteran, Dana brings more then sixteen years of spa experience and passion with her to Spa Velía. She attended San Diego State University, where she majored in International Business with an emphasis in Marketing. What began as a part time college job at La Costa Resort and Spa, evolved into a lifelong passion and career in the Spa industry. Dana is well-versed in all aspects of Management from Operations to Marketing and has successfully guided and managed the top Resort Spas, Day Spas, and Club Spas in San Diego, California.
Dana’s has a successful track record, and positive visibility within the spa and hospitality industry. Guided with that experience and knowledge she is a frequent contributor to trade publications, industry resources and articles. Enjoying the success of a flourishing Spa Business, Spa Velía, Dana enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience as a Senior Consultant for Creative Spa Concepts.
Dana’s passion for Spa Industry has led to an unwavering dedication to participating in moving the industry forward in Education. As a result she is has been actively involved with the International Spa Association (ISPA) since 2001. She has served on the International Spa Association (ISPA) Education Committee’s Special Task Force which was responsible for creating the ISPA Spa Standard Operations Manuals, served as the 2006 ISPA Education Chair and has worked closely with the committee to develop the ISPA Consumer Bill of Rights, Consumer and Professionals Spa Glossary and the Spa Professional’s Guide to the Spa Industry. Additionally Dana served as Chair for ISPA’s 2007 Speaker Task Force which oversees review and selection of Conference Speakers for ISPA’s annual Conference. Currently Dana is serving on ISPA’s 2008 Implementation Task Force.

Mary
was born and raised in the spectacular surroundings
of Northern Utah. She quickly realized that she
was clearly on a path of healing and graduated from
the Utah College of Massage Therapy in 1999.
While working as a massage therapist at a small, well-established
Day Spa in Utah, she was trained in the fine art of
performing “Body Treatments”. Through
experiencing this important aspect of the industry
she realized how beneficial the spa experience can
be and how much she loved the atmosphere.
Her role as Massage Director allows Mary to utilize
her talents of creativity and attention to detail,
while helping others to find a healthy way of healing
their body, balancing their energy and uplifting their
spirit.
Mary believes each person has the potential to heal,
but also knows that it takes a well-trained and intuitive
mind to facilitate such a transformation. A
great experience in a beautiful and safe setting can
change a persons’ out-look on so many levels. She
advises her client’s to “Enjoy the experience,
you deserve it”.

Juliana Rodrigues was born in Rio
de Janeiro, Brasil where she lived for 20 years. She
then relocated to beautiful San Diego in 1995.
Juliana received her Esthetician License from Poway
Academy in 1995 and her Makeup Artist Certification
from the Makeup Designory in Burbank, Ca. Additionally,
she is certified as Management Trainer from the School
of Advertising and Marketing in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
Juliana is a strong advocate of ongoing and frequent
education and training to stay on top of trends in
the Spa industry. As
a result, her product and treatment training with countless
skincare lines is impressive.
Juliana brings extraordinary experience and innovative
thinking to the Spa Velía Esthetics Team. She has assisted
many spas with development and training and brings
passion and positive energy to her role as Esthetics
Director.
Due to her original techniques, extensive skincare
knowledge, leadership style, and growing list of high
profile clients, she is a frequent guest on local television
programs and contributor to trade publications.
Her hobbies include Modern Ballet, running, yoga and
exploring new adventures with her husband. Juliana
appreciates and loves all forms of art, from paintings
to fashion to photography and performance arts. She
enjoys life and likes to keep it simple.

they can better understand how to care for it to enhance
